Temporary Downtime

Pencil Scratches

Piano Work

Greetings, all. Apologies for having the site down temporarily. I have no idea what the cause behind it was. When contacting the support staff from my server, it took almost 12 hours to get a response. I pretty much asked what was going on, since there was no notice given, or anything like that. They removed the suspension, but didn’t say what the cause of it was. If somebody over there made a mistake, that’s fine, but at least tell me. Some of the pages may not load properly for awhile. If the problem persists, I’m going to have to bug them again about it.

At any rate, once I get some more works finished, I’m going to update the Portfolio section accordingly. In the meantime, I’m going to post a shot of some of my sketches for one piece that’s going to be performed this April. It’s even complete with some lame cracks, just because.

The Peasant and the Root

Just thought I’d post this quick video here. A friend of mine was the flautist for the score of this short film. The concept is quite clever, so nonetheless this video’s worth viewing.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

I just found out about this group not more than five minutes ago, and I’m seriously hooked on them. Since it’s appropriate for the season, I’m going to embed a video I found on YouTube.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday!

Music From The Vatican

So, I get this e-mail about a month ago regarding a project. The album is called Alma Mater and is about Mother Mary. Whether or not you’re Catholic, or even religious, Peter Ruppert (the man who e-mailed me) wants me to write about it. Of course, when I say ‘me’ I’m referring to any other blogger, or other webmaster whose site is about music (the e-mail was pretty generic). Nonetheless, I’m happy to at least write a little bit about it, since I only know a small amount about it. Sacred music does have its importance in history; in fact most early written music was indeed religious. The best music (in my opinion) had to be the large Renaissance masses. Of course, this project, I imagine is going to be a little bit more modern.

I’ll actually embed the YouTube video clip that he sent me. If this interests you, take a look. If not…don’t leave any atheist or agnostic remarks in the comments. Of course, some of you with a sense of humour and/or a smart mouth will do it anyway just to get a reaction out of me. Do your worst! :P

Competition

I had gotten something in my inbox about a week ago regarding a competition. Looking it over, I was considering trying to assemble something to enter, but I can’t for the life of me figure out the rules and regulations. There’s one section about where you need to send in a receipt with the venue’s bank information for a certain amount of funds? Do they mean invoice? I have no clue. If I’m serious about entering, asking them about it wouldn’t be a bad idea, but there’s really nothing that I currently have that I’d like to submit.

For anybody else who wants to check out this competition, the website is Divertimento Ensemble. Of course, if you can figure out what the heck they’re talking about regarding the receipt, do tell.

For some reason, I had the urge to listen to this song by Weezer.

Menial Update

It’s nothing major, but I was always wondering how you would go about getting an icon to appear next to the URL of the site in the address bar. I just read about that today, and it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. All you have to do is create an icon (using a free tool from a website) and just upload it into your main directory – the icon appears automatically.

Here’s a link to the same article in case you want to do the same. It’s just a small thing, but it can make a world of difference for your site or blog.

I’ve recently taken up another project or two, so I’ll try to have samples available in the Music section.

Expansion & Updates

Some of the portions of the website have been reworked, including the Portfolio section. Just added now is the Services section for potential clients. If demand calls for it, I could put up a page with a short bio (that most sites tend to have), but considering there’s already a section dedicated to the Portfolio, as well as Services, which has just been added, that seems kind of redundant, and perhaps a little bit too self-indulgent.

In addition, considering that there is the occasional blog post, you can pretty much judge for yourself whether you’ll like me or not depending on the types of things I write about.

More Uploaded Music

I initially had these up, but due to my departure of a project, I had to take the files down so that I can implement a proper name change. Now they have been added. Without Dawn and Tears By The Wind have been inserted in the Music section. They were written last year, so you’ll find them with the rest of the pieces that were written in 2008.

Both of these pieces are most likely to be included in the next album.

Composing Birds

My friend Sabrina showed me a link to this just a few minutes ago. She was completely blown away by it. After I saw it, I was blown away. Take a look:

Birds on the Wires from Jarbas Agnelli on Vimeo.

He just wanted to see what it would sound like when writing it down. Of course it wouldn’t sound too dissonant considering the intervals are either in thirds or fifths. Nonetheless I wouldn’t have thought about doing that. Read the original post.
